More on Minecraft 1.8 the Adventure Update

So far we can see that the 1.8 update is chalked full of new things being that it is considered the Adventure Update. Mind you that this doesn't mean there will now be an Adventure Mode it only means to make the game fuller and push you out of your depressing little hut and/or mine and make you adventure out in the world or you will die. Just for starters in this update there will be new Bow function, Hunger, Sprinting, and new foods I'll cover the new Mobs tomorrow.

New Bow Functions
First lets address the new bow function with this we gain a new animation for the bow this being that you may now see the bow being drawn back. the longer you hold the bow back the farther the arrow will fly. After a full charge with the bow you will get a critical hit on any mob (your arrow will also stick in the mob you shoot). With the change of the bow Notch has added a new achievement of hitting a skeleton form 50 meters (or 50 blocks) he also stated this may be very hard for some people. There is also a rumored achievement for the bow that has not yet been confirmed called, "Shoot the Moon".

(on a short side note there will be other ways of getting a critical hit one at random and two from high-ground)

Hunger
Hunger is brand new to Minecraft and most likely the main point of calling the 1.8 update the Adventure Update. With adding hunger we can now no longer mine for hours on end. We have now been given a new responsibility to keep ourselves alive in the world of Minecraft. Even tunneling our way to the bedrock to only find that one piece of diamond with out a single pork-chop in our large pocket is now a thing of the past. You can also no longer swallow your pork-chop whole you must chew it bringing forth a new animation of you Eating said pork-chop. The hunger bar you now have what looks (in my opinion) like large hams that very slowly deplete over time. Once you deplete this bar you begin to starve and slowly drain your health and no not like drowning you do have time to find food.

Sprinting
Walking who needs it, not Steve, who now plays minecraft 1.8 he can now sprint as long as he wants with his limitless running time. Kicking up dirt where ever he goes (like Sonic the Hedgehog with out flames). Knocking back Mobs by 8 blocks (couldn't do that while walking could you). Also, its a good way to keep those creepers at bay. But, what is that ahead a canyon Steve jumps while sprinting and makes it all 4 blocks. Yes, Finally sprinting comes to Minecraft making getting around town a lot faster but it has one down side. You can go as far as you want while sprinting if you have some food because as you run your hunger bar falls faster then normal. This is only a small price when you look at all the good that come from sprinting. You now gain the ability to jump farther distances. Knocking Mobs back with a running punch is amazing now you run and hit a creeper with out fear of losing your life or house.

New Foods
No longer will the only easy access food be a raw pork-chop or making all the ingredients to bread or cake. And, there's apples but good luck finding one of those. Now you can find all kinds of food cows now give you raw beef which can be cooked. Chickens give raw chicken (go figure) and you can eat it raw but i say cook it because you have a chance of poisoning your self if its raw. there is now melons also which you can crow and eat. Now for fun food Zombies now drop rotten flesh sounds a lot better then feathers but I don't know you can eat it to bring up your hunger but you get poisoned if you eat it double edged sword if you ask  me.
(p.s. its a pic of cook chicken)

AND FINALLY A VIDEO FOR YOUR TIME
this is a video of notch playing and showing off some of the new things in the 1.8 update including a new mob in which i'll be talking about that tomorrow until then good bye all.

  1. Minecraft is getting better and better, 1.8 is looking to be kickass! And Notch is cool for not closing it down since it got leaked.
